Havent blogged in AGES!!

So I found my blog again! I don't even know if anyone follows this or how to check but oh well!

This one is called 'Appaloosa', purely a study of a gorgeous appaloosa horse. I'm really happy with the outcome.

She's called 'mustang in the wilderness' I found a photo of a pregnant mare in a dersert. It was beautiful.

So these are more or less the finished product excluding one which I still have to take a photo of..

This one to the right was the start and the far right ... I started with another new image that worked better with the canvas..
This one was a random image with the thought of rebellion??
But I ended up working over this many times....

first couple of weeks and another idea..

So I failed to take many shots of progress... but I'll show some early pieces.

When I got started I got into thinking about portraying a different emotion on each canvas... for example

freedom

fear

rebellion

anxiety

wilderness....

herd... So this is what each painting came to symbolize

I didnt get as abstract as Id hoped but Im still trying to get my finger on it... it was a great learning process

I want to continue.

I've found some images of the type of thing i'm thinking about. This will give you an idea of the kind of thing I want.Something simple... but also I will be working alot more bigger than this... Alot more BOLD.

Don't call me Kitsch...

I think I have decided what I am going to do... Its to do with horses... don't laugh. But over the last year I have been fully devoted to my horse and his training even more so than this course. Believe it or not...

But even these last couple of months its the only thing I seem to think about and I need to get it out of my head and down on canvas.

So this is what I'm thinking. I want to try to portray an emotional piece.. or even series of the communication and emotion in training/understanding my horse.
First thing that came to mind was Mark Rothko... So I'll get some of his work for you. (It's emotional)
Maybe I can derive something from this.. I dont want it to what you're probably thinkin... a nice cute horsey head. Something more than that. Obviously.
ABSTRACT... portraying emotion and power of the horse. .... DIFFICULTY in communication.

I'll go and collect some cool pieces of work to get an idea of how it's going to look. So I can show you... and figure it out for myself.
